Bronze Medal for the high school student Alexandros Iliadis in the 2nd Youth Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad

The 3rd place and the Bronze Medal was won by the student of the 2nd High School of our School, Alexandros Iliadis, in the 2nd Youth Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad. The Competition took place from 24 to 30 September 2023 in Volos and students over 15 years of age from 14 countries participated.

The aim of the Competition is to introduce High School students to the field of Astronomy and Astrophysics and to give them the opportunity to meet other students from other countries who have the same interests.

It is the second time that Greece hosts the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad. The event is organized with the support of the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports, the University of Thessaly, and the Astronomy and Space Society of Volos.

Congratulations to Alexandros for his great success as well as to professors Athanasios Tasoulas and Dimitris Papadopoulos who supported him and contributed to his thorough preparation.
